Observational study to a child with Learning Disabilities

Objective of this Observation
This observation intend to have facts on the different deficit encountered of a child with Learning Disabilities and to be familiar on how to deal with it properly in different circumstances.
Observation
a.     Who will be observed?                                                                            
I had observed a twelve (12) years old child named Joy C. She was diagnosed with Learning disabilities specifically with deficit in reading (dyslexia) and writing (dysgraphia). She is 5 feet tall, tan skin, slim and tan skin.

b.     What behaviors will you observe?
Language deficit
     She has poor ability to relate letter and letter sounds and spelling. She also even experience difficulty in spelling correctly.
Communication
     Because of having deficit in language, she has difficulty in socializing with her peers like sharing information needed in a meaningful conversation and inability to interact effectively with others that result in low self-esteem.
    
c.     How will you observe the behaviors?
I had observed the behaviour by focusing on the time of duration the behaviour occurs and the reason why she acted that way.

d.     Where will you observe?
The observation was conducted at the school of MB Therapy Center.

e.     When and for how long will you observe?
Due to restricted time, the observation only took for a day last February 9, 2012 starting from 8:00am to 4:00pm wherein I consumed 7 hours that day.
f.      How will you document your observation?                                                     I had documented my observation through scrutinizing the child’s action, asked questions to her teacher and even consulting documents and journals of the child provided by the school.                                                                                                                          
g.     How will you used your observation?
This observation will serve as my experience so I will have some knowledge how children with learning disabilities behave so I will be ready in case the same situation happens and as a requirement in our subject.

Data collected about the student’s behaviour

Rate
          Joy could finished three (3) pages in one and half (1 ½ ) hours.
Duration
          It took her 3 minutes to finish a task in writing.
Latency
          Before she responds to the task given to her, it took her five (5) minutes to react.
Topography
          She exchanged the letters like: b to p, z to s, etc. And even mix upper and lower case letters.
Force
          Joy’s paper could almost tear in the way she writes.
 Locus
          She had irritated in the subject that needs writing especially in English.
